Perennials

Herbaceous perennials are a must in any scheme. With the mix of vibrant flower colour, variety in leaf colour & shape & the mix of heights they give the landscape a whole range of features to admire.
Although Herbaceous borders of old are well renowned for the amount of

work needed to keep them looking in top condition, many new varieties are less labour intensive than shrubs & can look goood year after year.
Items such as Alchemilla, Bergenia, Heuchera & Geranium will give great ground cover & have good foliage or flowers.

Items like the Paeony (pictured) & Sedumn (above) can give a brilliant show of flowers for very little effort.
Items such as Hosta (below) have a great range of leaf colours & are brilliant for a shady corner in a courtyard or under trees, mixed with hardy ferns they look great.
